The Extras
We pride ourselves on offering an enriched curriculum that goes beyond the basics to create a holistic and memorable early learning experience for every child. Our curriculum design is intentional and carefully planned, with each element thoughtfully chosen to support all areas of children's learning and development. These experiences are crafted to broaden children's horizons, spark curiosity, and provide them with the best possible start in life.

We are committed to constant reflection, always evaluating the effectiveness of our curriculum and looking for opportunities to innovate. By identifying gaps in children’s learning and building on their interests, we introduce new and exciting elements that enhance their experiences and support their progress. This dynamic approach ensures that every child’s early learning journey at Leapfrog is engaging, enriching, and tailored to their individual needs and aspirations.

The 'Famly' App
The children’s progress and development are tracked using an app called Famly. This allows your child’s key person to work in partnership with you to ensure your child is getting the most out of their nursery experience and enables us to communicate with you about their day, monitor progress and keep up to date with what’s going on at home.
We will often post home learning challenges and encourage all children to put up a family photo which we can display in the nursery environment.
We also ask parents to join in as many of the opportunities we provide for them to come in and play and learn alongside their children. These events include story cafes, FUDGE days and keyworker coffee mornings. All of these experiences boost the children’s confidence and enable to share what they are learning with family members.
Makaton
Makaton is an important and valuable tool in early education, we teach children early sign language to support their communication skills. Using Makaton fosters inclusion by providing a way for all children, regardless of their language abilities, to express themselves and be understood. It helps children communicate from a young age, promoting confidence and independence as they learn to make choices and share their needs. By incorporating Makaton into our daily routines, we create an environment where every child is empowered to be an active, confident communicator, enhancing their overall learning and development. Look out for our sign of the week!
Nutrition
At our nursery school, we are deeply passionate about fostering a love for healthy eating in our children. We believe that early exposure to a nutritious and varied diet sets the foundation for lifelong healthy habits. Our approach revolves around providing children with opportunities to try new foods, offering healthy snacks, and serving hot, balanced, and delicious teas that excite their taste buds and support their growing bodies.

Our carefully designed menus are both nutritious and exciting, featuring a wide variety of flavours and multicultural dishes that introduce children to cuisines from around the world. We encourage children to actively participate in food preparation, helping them develop essential cooking skills such as chopping, grating, and mixing. By following simple recipes, they not only learn practical life skills but also gain a deeper understanding of how food is prepared.

Through hands-on experiences, we teach children about the importance of making healthy food choices and understanding the different food groups. We emphasize which foods are beneficial for their bodies and why, laying the groundwork for informed and positive attitudes towards eating.

At our nursery, healthy eating is more than just a routine—it’s an integral part of the learning experience, ensuring children develop the skills, knowledge, and enthusiasm to carry healthy habits with them throughout their lives.
Tiger Clubs

Tiger Cubs is our dedicated gross motor development scheme, designed to focus on and support children’s physical development. It enables us to carefully track and monitor each child’s progress in key physical skills, providing targeted opportunities to practice and build core strength.
The scheme works hand-in-hand with our physical development curriculum, where each half term we focus on specific skills and ensure children are directly taught these abilities. We recognize that physical skills don’t always develop by chance, and Tiger Cubs allows us to be intentional and effective in helping children build the strong foundation they need for lifelong health and well-being.

Trips
Trips

At Leapfrog, local trips and adventures are an exciting part of our nursery experience, enriching children’s learning and broadening their understanding of the world. We explore wild spaces for activities like pond dipping and learning about the seasons, visit local shops and delis to source ingredients for cooking, and enjoy library visits to foster a love of reading. These outings also teach valuable life skills, such as road safety and caring for the environment through litter picking. Highlights include visits to the post office, park, florist, train station, and even trips to the dentist for check ups. Each adventure supports children’s curiosity, confidence, and connection to their community.
Nursery Pet

At Leapfrog, our nursery is home to two adorable guinea pigs, who bring joy and valuable learning opportunities to the children. Caring for our pets teaches children important life skills such as responsibility, empathy, and kindness. Through daily tasks like feeding, grooming, and observing the guinea pigs, children develop a deeper understanding of how to care for others and build their confidence. Interacting with animals also supports emotional well-being, encourages curiosity about the natural world, and creates a sense of calm and connection in the early years.
